Worms in Chicken Poop :(

Yes things can live in feed. Imagine my surprise one day when I opened a week old zip top bag of dog food and found it covered in worms grubs maggots whatever you want to call them. Needless to say I changed foods. These were of a different kind obviously. Almost like silk worms they spun webs or silk or something and made cocoons. My guess if the worm you are seeing is probably a similar bug. And could be from a moth egg or something of the like.

Worms that live in feed are not the same type of worm that is a parasite on your chicken. When a chicken eats a worm in the feed, the worm is digested. They are extra protein.

Worms you see in FRESH chicken poop are the parasitic type.

Worms that you find in OLD chicken poop are either maggots or if the poop is composted, you may find earth worms.

i wasn't sure what the OP was talking about with the worm, like in the picture context it seems to be suspended in midair on a blue bin,
and i couldn't see what kind of worm it is, or if its a maggot. :)

Okay...so, worm above is what is in their feed...not the same thing. This worm is what I found in the coop right under an egg by some poop.

Dang it, my phone won't let me upload.
