Worms in poop - Gross PIC

When you worm chickens with valbazen how much do you use and how many days in a row. With my dogs and goats I use 1cc per 10lbs of body weight for 2 days in a row. Can I give it to the chickens directly without putting it in water or food?

I give 1/4 cc to an adult chicken. this is equal to about 1 drop per pound of body weight. this is one time only, It can be given straight but I prefer to mix with equal parts water for better gut coverage, I do the same again in 10 days

Do I need to worry about transmitting the worms? I know people can't get the chicken lice, but how about the worms?

I'm going to try and locate a farm vet tomorrow and get this situation under control. If they have anything interesting to say, I'll let everyone know.

eewww - i'm new at this and didn't even know i should be checking their poop! my 1yr old dog likes to find and dine on their poop after they free range the yard at night - should i be concerned for him?

I had a load of worms pooped out by one of my hens. they were smaller than that tho!

I used the valbazen liquid 2 cc by dropper in both hens - just in case and again 10 days later, worked well!

I used a towel wrapped around them to hold them when administering the meds. good luck.

That is a (gross) amount of worms! Wow!

Some of my birds had those a while back.- got em after I let them free range. I just picked up a liquid wormer(Wazine-I think) from the feed mill - you mix it with a gallon of water and treat for two days. I just used the gallon and then part of a second to keep their waterer full of the mix/treatment for two full days. It did get rid of the worms.

I brought a new puppy home on Fri (see My New Puppy thread under other animals) and he became VIOLENTLY ill from worms, giardia and coccidia. Bucky Bear barfed out an 8 inch long thick roundworm. Looked like an overcooked, bloated peice of spaghetti with a head and tail.. Nightmares... anyway.... He gave me meds for my sheltie and my chickens . What he gave me for the chickens was Pyrantel (nemex ) 2.5 ml for each chick. They are only about 10 weeks old.

So my question is... HOW to you give a chick 2.5 mls of liguid medicine????? This needs to be done today, as I kept them cooped up yesterday while dealing with cleaning all the possibly infected puppy poop out of the yard ( my chickens free range my yard) and I really want them to be able to come out to play today. thanks, Suz.
