hey guys! so it’s been raining a lot here. i was just about to leave with my fiancé to get some fencing and i decided to say goodbye to the birds and saw WORMS in the feces (pic below). I have the Chicken Health Handbook, so i know that it’s treatable with dewormers and i’m pretty sure it’s roundworm, though it could also be cecal worm. i think i want to use ivermectin but i just want everyone’s opinion.

i have 22 birds - 14 4 month old chicks and 8 adult hens (1-8 years of age) and i would like to treat them using the water soluble method, since so far none of the birds “look” infected. i’ll make sure they have no other ways of drinking water.

it’s just been tough because we’re dealing with a hawk nest and now we have worms and with all the rain it feels impossible. actually, now that i think about it, would individually be better because of all the rain? i give them their food and water outside of the coop. i don’t know.

any and all help would be appreciated. thank you guys SO much x

Ivermectin is a wonderful drug, and easy to use, and I've used it here in the past. But, when there's an approved drug that also works well, that should be the first choice.

I would also recommend having a fecal sample read to determine what the infestation is that your birds are dealing with.

Fenbendazole is your best choice, rather than Ivermectin, because it's approved for use, as Ivermectin is not. With only 22 birds, dosing each individually is the best plan, at night, when they are roosting.

THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH!!! i’ll do them individually then. what’s the withdrawal for fenbenzadole? i’ll get it now. thank you guys so
much.

idk how much the sample would cost, especially bc id have to do all 22 birds.

so for the 13 little ones (i have 2 roos, and one’s pretty large) i’ll be doing 1/4 cc and 1/2 for the rest (i have red comets, red island reds, and a silkie) for 3 days and then repeat in 10 after the third day? does that sound right?
