Hello everyone! I'm new to the forum. Not new to chickens. However, price of feed is going so high and we are about out of money and I need to figure out a different way to feed the chickens as my hubby has decided he "despises" all my critters.

Anyway, enough about that.

The question I have, is this, can chickens, and other poultry survive on a diet of bugs and worms?

I read just today a lengthy post about such things but it was mostly as "treat" style.

Any help you can give me is GREATLY appreciated.

I give worms as treats...


Natural chickens can eat just worms, bugs and plants... But what we have now are domestic chickens. It could cut down on your feed cost but its not a good idea just to let the chickens find there own food.
