Wormy chickens

It's hard for me to beleave what will work when so many people are telling me what they use works. I'm going with zyfend for now if I see worms in their poop after 10 days of use then I'll switch to something else.

People are telling you something works because they don't see worms in the poop but that doesn't really mean anything. Scientific studies have shown these things don't work because fecal floats are done and analyzed under a microscope to look for worm eggs before and after dosing the birds and it shows no difference in load. You need to get the liquid Safeguard goat wormer. The dose is 1/4 ml per pound of body weight given orally, not in the water. Repeat in 7 days. That will clear up round worms.
If you want to hit a larger variety of internal parasites, use the dose daily for 5 straight days in a row and you will get most species of worms.
Egg withdrawal is from the first dose until 14 days after the last dose given. Many people continue to eat the eggs from treated chickens but it is not recommended and the eggs certainly shouldn't be sold or given away to others for consumption.

Ditto what @DobieLover stated. There is nothing in Zyfend A that will deter nor kill worms in chickens.
Safeguard liquid goat wormer is Fenbendazole and Valbazen is Albendazole. Google either product and you'll see that they are both excellent Benzimidazole wormers. I've used both over the years and currently use Valbazen. They are very effective wormers for poultry.

I just want to add, that while it sounds great to go all natural, it isn't always the best way.
In the time that your chickens have worms, they are being depleted of nutrition, and their organs are suffering irreparable damage because of that.
It's better to rid them of the worms, using a proven product, as soon as possible.

Agreed. The true test to determine worm load is to look for eggs under the microscope.

Agreed. Ridding of worms that take food and nutrients form the chickens as fast as you can is always best for the chicken.

Worm load: ONE female roundworm lays hundreds of thousands eggs a day, excreted on soil in feces contaminating the soil. Birds constantly peck the soil and pick up the eggs and swallow them starting the worms lifecycle over again. A small worm load is unacceptable. I worm birds monthly.

Why must it be direct to the chicken's mouth and not in their water? It doesn't stay in suspension like Aquasol?

No. It doesn't.
It will fall out of suspension and the Safeguard liquid goat wormer is also much more concentrated than the Aquasol. The Aquasol will only treat roundworms.

Did they change the formula? The Merck website and says it's in suspension. And that it's half the concentration (100mg/ml) of the chicken Aquasol (200mg/ml)?
