I offer it on the side too. I can't recall ever seeing those in what my roosters left behind, not that I followed them around all the time, but I have noticed it in multiple hen samplings - usually my best layers that consume the most oyster shell.Didn't think about that. It very well could be because I feed mine oyster shell on the side.
That is what I thought from the description. If you really suspect worms, I would put on gloves if you might come into contact with any poo, then wash with lots of soap and water.Sounds like tapeworms
