Worried about broody hen

Well if a hen sits on eggs for so long and doesn't lay she can get the eggs stuck inside her. But this hen should be fine as long as she doesn't sit for to long. Good luck!
If a hen has gone broody she stops laying eggs, they are not stacking up inside her getting stuck.

I believe you may be confusing broodiness with reproductive problems like Internal laying or something similar.

I think you're confusing this with something else. When you provide false lighting in winter, chickens start laying their eggs more often. If the light suddenly goes out, they're not being stimulated to lay as many eggs, so the ones that they do have get larger and larger until they're very difficult to lay. (Or so I've heard--the statement had no sources.) Finally, these large eggs move into position and get a shell put over them. Then the hen tries to lay them, and sometimes, they're too large and she prolapses or is eggbound.
Thinking it's mis-conjecture. If the light failed and was not fixed, she would still lay eggs in process but not release any more ova.

Yes this might be what I am confused with. One of the many books on chickens I have out from the library said something like that the other said that if they sit to long they can get egg bound.

Only let her sit until day 23 then you have to take her off or else she might die. Is there a rooster around?
She won't die, it's just not healthy for her to sit for a very long time. Also, you have to let her abandon the eggs most of the time, not take her off.

Please explain. I don't understand the day 21 thing nor do I understand why not laying eggs for a month would be deadly.
@ChickenCanoe
This is what I have been trying to understand as well:)

I believe the confusion comes from a couple of books. Turkey Girl mentions
"Chicken Fact or Chicken Poop" as one of the books. That one is by Andy Schnieder (The Chicken Whisperer) https://www.amazon.com/dp/1631593153/?tag=backy-20

I have not read it, so don't know what "context" the material is referring to. I have not been to the library in years! Do you have a library card, can you look it up:oops:

The book that said they can get egg bound and die from sitting was Chicken Fact Or Chicken Poop under fact. I can't remember the name of the other.
