Turkeys most often do not respond well to a person choosing their nest for them. It is not a good idea to place food near the nest as it can attract rodents and other unwanted guests. If you want her to brood, move her to a clean nest and give her clean eggs, and well as food and water close by.
I don't personally have turkeys, but have been around them a lot.Turkeys most often do not respond well to a person choosing their nest for them. It is not a good idea to place food near the nest as it can attract rodents and other unwanted guests.
Turkeys are not chickens and do not respond the same as chickens.I don't personally have turkeys, but have been around them a lot.
I think if you had her in a cage or something,(if she cooperated) that feed and water close by wouldn't be a problem. I do it with by broody hens all the time.
I know.Turkeys are not chickens and do not respond the same as chickens.
What works best in those situations is to destroy the nest. Put a log or whatever is handy in the nest so that she cannot get back to that spot. Thanks everyone I tried moving her on eggs in a clean nest and she walked back to her old place in the field and refuses to do anything but go there I don’t mind more turkeys but if none hatch that’s fine too I just want what’s best I will try moving her at night that’s a great idea!
The only way it would work would be if ou did it at night. Thanks everyone I tried moving her on eggs in a clean nest and she walked back to her old place in the field and refuses to do anything but go there I don’t mind more turkeys but if none hatch that’s fine too I just want what’s best I will try moving her at night that’s a great idea!
