worried about eggs under broody

I've been looking for pips too and nothing. Yes the hardest is waiting.....arrrghhhh !!!! good luck with your hatch .

Under ideal conditions, the hen is a pretty good method of hatching chicks.
However, if at night it gets cool it can delay the hatch by a day or two. I've had this happen during the early part of spring.
Give them time.
Don't worry to much!

Enjoy!

Edited to add...DO NOT SHAKE THE EGGS, but pick up 2 or 3 of them and put them to your ear to see if you can hear chirping or the chicks inside pecking at the egg!

That really makes us feel better to think it may be weather or something, and not something wrong with the eggs.

Thanks for reminding us,
Ellie

I've had eggs under a broody hen that didn't hatch until day 25.

You could candle them to see how they look, but I agree give them more time. Our broody this year's chicks started hatching a day early, but my sister's duck had eggs due last Sunday they didn't start pipping until Tuesday, she left the nest this morning with all 9 eggs hatched!

So U are worried about the eggs under a broody! Oh my goodness U have the best incubator that money can buy!

My youngest dd went to check on our broody today. The broody got up to get a drink and my dd said that all of the eggs are still there and none are hatched. Today is day 23....I'm trying really hard to be patient. Oh and today is day 19 for my eggs in my bator...gonna have babies coming out of my ears!!!! CANNOT WAIT !!!!

You'd better find some distractions while miss hen does her thing! otherwise you'll go nuts (like I do) waiting and checking on her...

Last week I had 5 Cochin eggs under a hen. One hatched, 3 I left for an extra 4 days then took them and opened them. They were nasty! Never developed.
And one tried to hatch but never completed the chore and died.
I am now anxiously awaiting 14 eggs under 2 hens. We shall see in the next few days if any of those start pipping! I check every day!
