Worried about mail order chicks with usps slow service

They started a stair stepping price.
For females:
Tier 1 starts at $5.32
Tier 2 $5.54
Tier 3 $5.90
Tier 4 $6.39
Tier5 $6.64
Tier 6 $11.31 (this is where most of the chicks i was wanting are priced)
They aren't even that unusual. Specifically olive eggers.
This is ideal poultry catalog.
The crested chicks are in a completely different section.

Last year the chicks started at $2.50 and went from there.

All their supplies got more expensive so they had to raise prices. Local hatchery here told me they considered whether to shut it down or charge what they have to even if they think it's high. I haven't put my order in yet but I expect to see their prices have increased dramatically like everything else.

And yes, same hesitation with USPS but that's nothing new for me. You hope they give their best care to live shipments but it's unsettling, none the less, that they are actively slowing packages in order to push people to pay more for premium services.

We ordered the egger assortment from Tractor Supply and it was SUPPOSED TO BE 1-2 day shipping. They were shipped priority mail and took 3 days to get to us. I was livid! We were so lucky that none of the babies died and 6 1/2 weeks in we still have all 10. Priority mail is now like 2-5 days shipping so if you order, keep this in mind. Hatcheries need to change their shipping if they still use priority mail. I will not be ordering online again unless they specify overnight shipping or guaranteed 1-2 day shipping. It irritates me that they care so little to use slower shipping and even more so that it also put me as being part of these babies suffering.

I ordered 10 chicks from them late last year and they also took 3 days to get to me.
However, all the chicks were healthy and I had zero issues with them.
Not even a single case of pasty butt.

I used to order sexed chicks but now my hens hatch chicks for me so I don't worry anymore.The only advantage to shipping chicks is I could order any breed I want
