Worried about my 10 week chicken

Hi Everyone!!

I am worried about my chicken. None of my chickens had spraddle legs when they were young chicks. I notice the this chicken (Woodstock) had one crooked toe a couple of weeks ago. In the last couple of days we notice that his legs look spraddle but from what i have read its kinda late to develop.

Please let me know what you think. I have attached a video below.

What are you feeding them? Just wondering if it's a vitamin deficiency. You might want to have this moved to Emergencies Forum where it would be more likely to be seen by some of the health experts on this site.

I would not give them layer feed until they are of laying age. My hens never laid before 4-6 months old and I gave them grower feed from around 10 weeks until about 20 weeks. Feeding them layer feed too early can cause them to be malnourished. At 10 weeks they should be on starter or grower feed.

Layer feed also contains too much calcium for chicks to handle. They can have bone development problems from the excess calcium and this may have caused your chicken's current issue.

How long have they been on layer feed?

That potentially could be your issue, or one of them. Chicks should not have the excess calcium. Can you also post a picture of the tag from your organic feed so we can see the content? It may be deficient in other ways for young chicks.

You might want to do a search on rickets in chickens and see if the symptoms match. I think some do, but you have the bird in front of you.

Looks like a slipped tendon.
Did this just develop?
Might have more minor previously and now went farther?
Not sure it can be fixed at this age without vet intervention.
