So I have two white Chinese ganders. No females. And they live in a big pen with two of my two female ducks. I have a drake and another female duck, but they have been in isolation for two plus months now recovering from severe bumblefoot. They are almost ready to go back in the big pen with the geese and the other lady ducks, but the geese have bonded to the ducks now and are VERY protective over my two ducks that have been with them. They think those are their ladies. And my drake and other female duck are mean to my other females now that they've been apart so long and disregard them. Do you think the geese will hurt my drake and other female duck? I'm concerned at the drama that may happen when they all get back together

I am thinking it might be best to let them live side by side for a while till they get use to each other again.

My gander was bonded to his Muscovy mama and would defend her from any threat and drakes were the threat. It took getting him his on female goose and separation from the Muscovy before he bonded to his goose mate. Pair bond is very strong in geese.

So what do I do

Well you can let them live side by side and see if they again accept the drake and duck back or put all ducks together and see how that goes. Having your 2 ducks separated from the rest while they were healing is like trying to introduce new ducks to a flock it takes time.

Geese can cause serious injury so don't put them all together and leave them with out supervision.

Given that the ganders will very likely start breeding the duck hens with potential injury due to their size, I would get geese for the ganders. If they have access to swimming water there is a possibility the ganders will drown the duck hens while trying to breed them.

Yeah. Because when I started to bring my other two ladies in to reintroduce them to Aflac while he's still being soaked and treated (because he is) Aflac was very mean to them. Bit them and stuff. I'm just so worried about the drama that may happen. I don't know what to do like with the ducks and geese to get them all bonded again.

Yeah, they've been breeding them. I don't like it but I mean. And we've been trying to find a goose or two but haven't found anything so I don't know what else to do.

Are your female ducks that are in with your ganders Pekin? It will most likely be okay for them to breed. My gander [Embden] mated with all the Muscovy females here for 5 yrs until I brought home a female goose for him. You do have to watch them when in the water though. Even now My Runners will get in the pool with my gander and I make him get out he is way too big for them. Chinese being smaller and weighing less shouldn't be a problem one on one. It's when they gang up things can get nasty.

Try letting them live side by side for a few weeks then put the female ducks in with your 2 ducks who have been recovering see how that goes if things go good after a few days try introducing the ganders into the mix. That maybe trickier.
