Worried Hens will smash baby chick

This website is great, I wish I had found it earlier.

I have a hen whose chick just hatched yesterday. Is it okay if I lock the other hens out of the hen house for the day, since they always want to lay their eggs in the same spot as the mommy hen. They smashed one of the eggs already, I dont want them to smash the baby. I am going to attempt to move her tonight. Will the hens just hold off on laying their egg or will they find a spot in the brush? Is this okay, will it upset their cycle. Sorry so many questions, I am new to this.

the hen and chicks should be seperated
utherwise the other hens may be jealous and attack the hen and chicks

You will have to separate them for a lot longer than just a day, to keep the chick safe. Can you make a broody pen out of some spare wire fencing or something?
