Worried: is my coop going to be too big for winter?

Looking good, about the same space my 12 hens have and they were fine during the most severe winter of 22 years. About the vent- you will arrange so it can be closed on the worst days ( storms, severe winds, -40 chill factors)?

You obviously care for your animal deeply, and it looks good on you.

You have some long replies so I did not read all of them. Forgive me if this has already been mentioned, GET more chickens!

For the brand of cold we have in this part of the country, full grown chickens really just need a draft free coop and the company of each other to keep them warm, especially if you have cold-hearty birds. I don't think they'll even notice most of the time. They're just a lot tougher than you think.

As close to the coast as you are, i would be a lot more concerned about what to do if we get another good storm.
