My partner wanted me to create a new thread so that it could reach a larger amount of people, so here it is. Our previous thread is under the same name and can be reached from my page.
We have been raising a previously abandoned duckling together for 7 weeks now. In the beginning, we struggled with the same problem we have now- which were green and thin poops. We were feeding him crushed layer feed instead of starter crumbles before we could get ahold of it due to Coronavirus. Once we got him some proper food- it cleared up the problem. Since then we have not had the same problem. However, the day before yesterday, we ran out of starter crumbles again. So to keep him fed, I unfortunately had to feed him layer again. And thus, he had green and thin poops, pictured here.

It is a safe bet to guess that it is simply because of the layer feed- but this duckling is like a real child to my partner and I, and we want to be certain.
I thankfully just fed him his proper starter crumbles, and he went right for it. I watched him eat and drink for a bit, and then let him on his own in his brooder. He has tons of energy, and doesn’t seem sick at all- exactly the same as before when he was little before we had the starter crumbles. Now all we can do is wait and see if his system clears up.
Meanwhile- we also have a chick/duckling probiotic and ACV on hand. Would it be wise to give him some of one, the other or both? And if he doesn’t poop- what of mineral oil? Would that help him pass any sort of blockage? Any input or suggestion is greatly appreciated.
I’m going to make sure from now on to order the proper food in advance. This is indeed entirely my fault, and it’s a bad cycle that I’m going to work hard to break. Let’s just pray that it’s not an infection or a blockage, and it’s that he simply can’t eat the layer feed. Thank you for your time, I will post an update when something changes. Please take care, everyone.

7 weeks is way too young for layer feed and if he is indeed a he, should not ever give layer feed. Too much calcium. It is, as labeled for fowl that are laying eggs. See if it doesn't clear up on proper food. What kind of crumbles are you feeding?

Thank you so much for your reply. We are feeding him Manna Pro Chick/Duck Starter Grower. It seems like he’s passing urates, but no poop as of right now. We are very worried.

Does he have grit?
We have grit- but we haven’t been feeding him any, since we haven’t started giving him vegetables yet, and we want to keep an eye on his poop. We’re also holding off on grit- since my partner read that it could make it worse if there’s a blockage. So no vegetables, no grit- just his normal starter crumbles, and for the past one and a half to two days, crushed layer, because we had nothing else.
What would you recommend?

We had the same problem with getting feed and even when we did manage to order it, it didnt turn up. It was very stressful.

So yet again, I deployed my other half's coffee bean grinder !!

I ground down oats, corn/seeds mix and adult crumb roughly as a one third of each approach. They also had grit although I did notice that some were way more into it than others.

I think I owe Tom a new coffee bean grinder......

@Magnolia Ducks
Here is his most recent poop.
F713093A-5113-442F-92CE-68926974C97F.jpeg The green color is of course concerning- but I’m glad that there is more substance to it and that it isn’t just urates and liquid. It also doesn’t look thin, either- so that’s a good sign from what I’ve learned from @casportpony and @Isaac 0 (I would give them awards if I could!)
I’ll keep posting pictures as he poops more. I’m hoping that feeding him his normal food will help it pass through his system and get him normal again. Until then, I hope you all will keep me company in caring for our sweet boy. He’s the closest thing my partner and I have to a kid, so he really means a lot to us.

I’m glad to know that I’m not the only one! Thank you for sharing your method! I’m going to better myself by not making the same mistake again, but it’s always good to have backup knowledge!

We don't always get to work in ideal conditions and have to improvise - i've learnt to keep vet wrap, niacin, ace vits and selenium, collodial silver etc endless shallow dishes, an isolation tub / cage, shavings, pet grade hay and a working heat lamp on standby. Oats are a good go to back up and I've ground down muesli before (I can confirm mine don't like sultanas).

Oh, and that coffee grinder. :D

We've also got a huge first aid kit for the dogs and another for the cats,

Our first aid kit however consists of ancient plasters with questionable stickiness and the obligatory sling thats in first aid kits that no-one ever uses.

I have been ordering two bags at a time. I was ordering just in time then it got backordered. I had to call all over and drive 40 miles each way. So I know how this happens. The color is concerning if you have not been feeding him greens. But you say hes acting normally other than the green poop. I agree it's good that you got some solids. Keep posting and if anything changes in his attitude. Post.
