Hello, everyone. I am a first time duck owner and completely inexperienced with any bird care previously to this. I learned online that ducks love peas, kale and dandelions and have been feeding them this for the last couple of days. I’m not exactly sure how old they are, I ordered them from Metzer farms and my shipping date was the 2nd so I’m assuming that they’re around a week now. I made sure the pieces were very small and they had water to drink whenever I fed them anything. Now I’m realizing that they’re too young for the treats I’ve given them. I’m really worried and mad at myself for being reckless about this. I was just too excited and wanted to bond with them.
My main question now is if there is something I can do to lessen the risk any potential issues. Should I give them grit or dirt to make sure they properly digest the food or will that make the situation worse? Also is there signs I can look out for to see if it’s negatively affected any of them? So far they’re still pooping plenty but the poops are pretty watery. Thanks for any help you can provide
