Try to buy older chicks with confirmed gender instead of hatching or else you may get males again.

bought at 4 weeks. But this was my first every flick for myself. So I know what to look for when choosing this time

Look for juvenile chickens at 3 months old. You will know what sex they are. And most female breeds have consistent patterns and colors. Basically plain Jane.

Thank you for the tip!! I’m going to get laying hens tomorrow. And lined up a couple 6 week old chicks for later in the week. Try my luck with raising hens for my son again

Ok, so.. the black one is definitely a cockerel, sorry. The brown one I’m not sure but your lavender colored one is a pullet.

yep they did end up all being roosters. what are the odds id choose alllll boys. i witnessed the brown ones first 2 crows the morning they were rehomed
