our temp in the whole house, not just where the bator is, but the whole house keeps dropping at night time, there is no possible way to keep it at a constant temp. The temp in the bator was 100 degrees when we went to bed last night, it has been at 97 degrees most of the morning and I don't see it going up anytime soon. The weather today is not too bad, sunny and about 76 degrees, it does look like rain and if it does rain the temp in our house will go down even more, always does.

Just so worried that this will be a waste of time.

My house stays at 60 degrees day and night unless I turn up the thermostat. I have all digital therms in my house that are programed to night and day. But with the last year in fuel prices I decided I can deal with 60 at all times. I also have a wood stove that will effect the temps to so no more fan upstairs.

If you don't have your heat on at night the temps in the house will go down and your bator will suffer the effects of the room temp dropping. If you can keep the heat on at night to a nice stable temp and during the day as well. You don't have to worry about it turning on unless it drops below what you have it set.

You're going to have some temp fluctiations,...try turning up the heat on the bator a little. I would think it would be better to run it a little warm in the day then have it too cool at night,..especially if it is a still air.

Have you just set your incubator up? Often the temp fluctuates for a few days and this is often repeated when the eggs are set and then further fine tuning is required. Leave it for a few days to 'run in'. Not all incubators are the same and experience gives you a 'feel' for your own machine

All of our heat is electric baseboard and there are NO thermostats so we have no idea what temp they are even set at.

I tured the heat up a bit yesterday to compensate for the drop in the house, but wasn't sure if that was a good idea, I may just have to keep doing that.

The bator has been set up since early last week and I noticed the same things happening. During the day temps were fine and then at night time they dropped about 2 degrees and I would have to adjust. Only one or two days last week I didn't have to adjust during the day because we had warmer nights.

I would think it would work. People have wrapped their bators in blankets when the power goes out. I just wouldn't want you to cook them by doing a whole wrap job.

I have oil heat baseboards and have the same problem. My hy house is set to 70 but it drpos about 5 degrees b4 it kicks on, then it goes up to about 75 until it shuts off. My incubator temps have been all over the place. Just 2 days ago, it got up to 104. I adjusted and it dropped to 94 all night and I just got my first pip...on day 19 thpugh, mostly cuz temp spikes. I tried the towels and it did keep them from dropping but then almost cooked my eggs later. If you can keep a constant eye on it then i'd do it, otherwise could be fatal.

Thanks for that info Kvmommy.

I will just have to get up during the night maybe and check to see if it needs any adjustments. Maybe we will be okay. I am trying to make plans for a coop/rabbit hutch and playground and get them all done by June, I just hope the coop plans are not a waste of time and money.
