perf! That will be plenty big enough for 3 chickens and you will have a little extra room in case you catch chicken math.

haha thank u! praying the chicken math doesn’t get to me….The number of chickens a 6x4 space can accommodate depends on various factors including the breed of chickens, their size, and how much space you want to allocate per bird. However, as a general guideline, for standard-sized laying hens, you could comfortably house around 6 to 8 chickens in a 6x4 space. It's crucial to ensure they have sufficient room to move around, access food and water, and engage in natural behaviors like scratching and dust bathing. Overcrowding can lead to stress, health issues, and aggression among the birds.
Good Luck, yo are in for a lot of fun, and chicken math!!
awesome id love to give them more space but my backyard doesn’t allow it unfortunatelyThere are plenty of people that will tell you that a 4x6 is good for six chickens. With adequate access to a run they are correct, though it might be a little tight for integrating new chickens.
I personally like them to have more room than the bare minimum. I find the tighter I crowd them the more behavioral problems I have to deal with, the harder I have to work, and the less flexibility I have to deal with issues. Three chickens in a 4x6 sounds really good to me.
Get creative. I have plenty of property but in order to protect my girls from all the animals running loose I liberal. It would cost a lot of money to go really big yard. So I am making raised beds with chicken tunnels under them to lead to different areas I can rotate. So think along fences or under decks etc. that’s were all the good bugs are too!awesome id love to give them more space but my backyard doesn’t allow it unfortunately
This sounds interesting! You should start your own thread explaining how you're creating these chicken tunnels.Get creative. Best wishes for your girlz!
