Would a BR roo with a JG hen make a large Barred chick?

I have JG roos and hens. I love the way the barred rocks look. If I put a BR hen or roo with one of my JG would I be able to get a Barred Giant? I think I remember reading that black coloring was a dominant gene... I don't think I would get my Barred Giant with the first generation but what about the 2nd or 3rd generation?

I am new to chickens and even newer to the idea of breeding so please excuse my ignorance.

Hi Jamila! What fun! I love a barred bird too. That's a great project!
Barred (Rock) hen x solid (Jersey Giant) roo will give you barred cockerels and solid hens.
Just keep breeding the best barred /cuckoo sons back to the JG hens and you'll get there.
Good luck and have fun!

Not the cross you had in mind. BR X Black JG hen will give all barred. Mating one of these barred cockerels to Black JG hen will give 50% each Barred & Black, with better JG type. Cull out the Blacks & -Repeat & repeat the above mating Barred male to Black JG.
You should have good Barred JGs in about 3 or 4 generations.
