Would a leonberger dog work as a LGD?

the Leonberger was formed by crossing a landseer Newfoundland and the old st. bernard type dog..
I actually think that if they were raised with the livestock, they would be good.

No.

They are social house dogs and would be very unhappy if left outside away from the family. They will protect the family, but they are too social to make an area guard.

The breed is a couple hundred years old. Not that new.

They are not generally livestock chasers, but they are not fighters, either.

Try some other breed. The Leonberger will not be suited for what you want.
