Now I have a Roo, per advise here. I guess he is a duckwing old english something, but he is pretty and what was at the local chicken store. The whole flock is 2-to 5 months old, and his age is unknown to me but he is crowing, and at this point quite tame. I had to buy his wife too, so that brings the numbers up to 10. He also is a Banty as are about 1/2 the rest of them. ----So off on the Roo adventure. He has been making a racket all afternoon, but hopefully it is the new home, and that my chickens stay cooped till noon. (when I get up) -----I guess the neighborhood was full of chickens and pigs back in the day, but housing has filled in. There are chickens and dog kennels in the area, but hopefully this Roo will not upset things too much. He likely will be too little to eat.
I'm not sure but my roo protects mine.
once one of my chickens tried to chase me and peck my leg and i was about to give it the punishment(putting my hand on it's back and pushing it to the ground for a little bit, it does not hurt it but the other chickens make fun of it after wards and put it in it's place.) when i got to the putting of my hand on it's back my roo ran up to me and attacked me. i figured that it was provoked and just doing its job, so just chased him around for a little bit( he is too fast for the other method.).
