Would an experienced duck owner look at this?

I have day old ducklings coming tomorrow. I think I have everything ready for them. Will this work ok for a waterer for them to begin with. It is 4.5 inches high and holds 2 gallons of water, but I have added 2 bricks to keep them from getting into it at first. I know they need to be able to dip their nostrils in water when they eat. The bricks won't give off anything that will hurt them, will they? Also will baby chick feeders work for them at first? How old do they need to be before I can turn them into their fenced run?

shows using bricks in a pan with a standard waterer. What you have should work, but my guess is very quickly the ducklings will learn to jump/climb into the pan and make a huge mess. Ducklings are very messy with water. There are several other threads on here that address duck watering. One I could find easily was: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/858161/feed-water-solution-for-brooder#post_12901321

There are several ideas in case your pan doesn't work out.
