Awesome, I am new to this as well, got my first batch of 1 day old chicks from our local feed store on April 1st.

Have 13 layers, a random mixture of RIR, EE, Brown Leg, SLW. At least I'm hoping they are all girls LOL.

I have an open air style coop as our summers are very hot and humid.

C'mon over! I'm in Southeast Texas near the Louisiana border.

What topography do you have ....we are plains and priaries...flat lands as far as you can see, in fact at night we can see the city skyscrapers of Dallas all lit up from our front porch.

Coastal plains. Pine forests(and now forest fires) and FLAT as a pancake! Not a hill around here unless it's an ant hill.
