I am building another coop so i will have to chicken coops and my question is would my hens split into to groups? I'm worried that they might just try to all cram into one... any body else got 2 coops?

If I were you I would try separating them if you can, then keep them in the separte coops. Then they might sort of be 'trained' to go into those coops. Not sure just a thought. Good luck!

I have three coops and they play musical coops most evenings, i.e. there is no set pattern of who roosts with whom, or where. For example, last night no-one but the dominant roo wanted to share with the broody and her chicks, so the other adults piled into one and the juveniles into the other...

You will need to train them to the new Coop..:frow
If you don't they will think of the old one still as home. :D
My friend built a new Coop on the opposite side of her yard and removed the old Coop. All the chickens stood on the bare ground where the old Coop once was wanting to go to bed..:gig

I have two, but I built the second for a new batch of bantams. My original girls (the OGs) sleep in the coop I built for them, and my bantams sleep in the coop I built for them.

Except for one bantam cockerel who takes turns sleeping in both. He's such the player...
