Would/do you kill a chicken to eat?

My kids named my hens, but if push came to shove I wouldn't have any problems with Honeybunny soup or BBQ Mother Clucker.

They will all be stew when they don't pop out those white things anymore. We are going to start raising for meat along with eggs. I've never killed one, but I think I can. Blood and guts don't really bother me and this site has great info on butchering.

I do like watching the chickens though. They are free ranging in the garden right now. Even though they have very rudimentary brains they do have personalities.

I've thought on this, and I don't think I could kill mine for food. My chooks happen to be lucky in that repect. (Yes, destiny will be kind to the chickens I get) They will be little old lady chickens til it's their time.

I didn't mean to be offensive.

I just think that if you are going to eat an animal, you should know that it was treated at least not badly.

All I'm trying to say is it that I think it's our responsibility as meat eaters to KNOW where our food came from.
