So my bantam Cochin hatched out the last viable egg that she was sitting on 2 days ago. I had to pull the chick because it has been extremely hot here with temps exceeding 100 degrees. Poor mama is still in full broody mode. I have an egg that is on day 14. Do you think it would be ok to let her sit on it for the remaining week that it has left?

It may be worth considering the well-being of the hen. Sitting takes a lot out of a hen in terms of reduced food and water intake and health. Prolonged brooding may impact negatively, particularly considering the temperatures.

That's what I'm worried about. Fortunately, I went out to feed and water and found one of my buffs sitting on a clutch of nonfertilized eggs. I left her alone to see if she would stay sitting. If she does, then I'm going to give her the egg. The egg is currently under my Turkey hen who has been unsuccessful thus far in hatching. She NEEDS to be forced off the nest. Turkey's will literally brood themselves to death. I'm going to be out of town this weekend. I have my mother in law staying at the house and looking after all of the animals. I hate to leave her with a broody mess but nature called at the worst time possible.

If you can sort out things to break your broody before you leave, all should be well.

And of course I just realized that day 21 is the day that we arrive back from our vacation :he

Cancel the vacation :D
Is it bad that I've considered? :hmm Unfortunately, we've already paid for our portion of the beach house in Galveston and there's no way my husband will allow it. So....hopefully everything works out. Or who knows, maybe I'll come home to a new chick :jumpy

Perfectly normal :D you may wish to consider breaking an arm or some such appendage to cancel the trip :gig
