button quail are so funny ,some are broody and others will drop an egg anywhere just walking about and drop one on the spot.mine are in a flight coop with diamond doves and ring neck doves.my ringnecks have laid all year round just like the button quail and they all get along perfectly.though ringneck doves arent chickens they are really broody theyd sit on a rock if you let them and i know of a woman who hatched button quail from her silkie ringneck dove and they where just fine. of coarse the doves didnt raise them but it did hatch them.and im sure if you had a small enough chicken they could raise them until the quail got big enough to where their internal Instinct tells them to act like quail ,which is only a few weeks and then they would go about their way.I know if my incubator went out and my eggs where on a life or death matter, id be all about putting my BQ eggs under my doves and the hatch time is the same...... lol
