Would it be safe to pen a dog up where turkeys used to stay?

I am planning on moving my five turkeys to a larger pen. There were staying in a large dog pen. Would it be safe to pen my chihuahua up where the turkeys were. Should I put lime or something on the ground where the turkeys were to kill any germs.

I would clean the floor real well and spread some lime and cover with fresh dirt. But I don't think I have ever heard of a disease that spreads from birds to dogs ??

My dogs eat poo... They love chicken and turkey crispies, the disgusting brutes. So your chihuahua would probably eat it right up. But lime could be nasty on its paws too. I would say a vigorous hosing, followed by a few days of dry and sunshine would be a good bet. Maybe some fresh dirt on top.

Thanks....I'll hose it down, add additional dirt and wait awhile before putting her in the pen. It is only when we leave that she will be in it.
