I can promise you with all the birds I bought today, 2 pairs and a group of 7, it wasn't near $50.00 a pair

...I batted my baby blues, got them all for $100.00

These are all 5-6 months old too.

(I am interested in eggs though!

I wouldn't say it's a newbie price but rather a reasonable price with all the feed costs and husbandry. Everyone can sell birds as they wish.

ETA: Congratulations on your new additions. They are great birds and you will love them. I have had northern bobwhites for a few years now and recently acquired the Valley Quail and other colors of bobwhites so no newbie here. Just with the economy and health of birds, I thought it was a fair price. I may change the pricing as my birds start multiplying in the new world quail but no one has been complaining yet on the old world so I would say it's fair considering all the factors.

I will admit, the prices I checked on were actually in the $50 range...that's why I asked the question to begin with to see if they were ligit or not. Not only with feed prices up, some of the New World Quail are getting harder to come by...unless you buy from a hatchery that has sub-standard birds.

I was able to get a good deal in my opinion because this particular breeder was getting out of the quail biz, didn't have to ship them, and I bought all of her remaining stock.

And would gladly pay $50 for a known breeding pair that has no physical flaws and and good coloration. Remember, we're not talking the brown coturnix that you can find all day long

Don't know if any of you have tried to hold a quail still for a photo op...that's not been handled before...these aren't the clearest but a couple of the new additions...

I'M BOTH FULLY AWARE OF THE SPECES INVOLVED AND INTIMATELY FAMILIAR WITH NEW WORLD SPECES AS IS MILLE THEY ARE NOT ANY HARDER TO FIND, ALTHOUGH THIS IS THE WRONG TIME OF YEAR TO LOOK FOR EGGS FROM THEM, ITS THE RIGHT TIME OF YEAR TO BUY SOMEONE ELSE'S BREEDERS THAT THEY WISH TO REDUCE IN NUMBER

ALMOST ALL NEW WORLD SPECIES HAVE 1 COMMON RULE ACROSS THE BROAD FOR ALL SPECIES ~~~ "NO TOUCHEY!!!

NICE LOOKING BIRDS
