I will admit, the prices I checked on were actually in the $50 range...that's why I asked the question to begin with to see if they were ligit or not. Not only with feed prices up, some of the New World Quail are getting harder to come by...unless you buy from a hatchery that has sub-standard birds.
Instead of using hatcheries I have done a lot better buying from breeders there are quiet a few listed in the game bird mag that and NC has an ag pub that has a coupla guys that deal in quail and other gamebirds
I was able to get a good deal in my opinion because this particular breeder was getting out of the quail biz, didn't have to ship them, and I bought all of her remaining stock.
And would gladly pay $50 for a known breeding pair that has no physical flaws and and good coloration. Remember, we're not talking the brown coturnix that you can find all day long
