Would like your opinion on which breed these hens are.

Bought 7 chicks last year, they were sold as Americanas and I get blue and green eggs. After learning so much about EE's now I question which I have. I tried to get the best pics of a few of them, they were not in a very cooperating mood though. I did get a good profile pic of a couple of them. Thanks for your help and I have my fingers crossed that they are Americanas!

Well they're still very nice looking birds. Hopefully you get some nice colored eggs from them.

No, they are great layers and so much fun to watch. I have one that has gone broody already and sitting on 12 eggs, she will not let me near those eggs! I have an outside the chicken pen hatch to collect eggs from and when I went to candle the ones she is sitting on and ouch, she got me! Very protective, she won't let any other hen near the nest either thank goodness, but I will have to move her to another locating when they get closer to hatching. The nest is 1 1/2 foot off the ground. Plus I don't want them in the big pen.

I hope there was a rooster around before she set or she's gonna be disappointed! It's a good idea to wear heavy gloves when dealing with a broody hen. I learned that the hard way, too.

Yes, I have a New Hampshire rooster in their pen. I incubated eggs already and got 20 chicks. They are 2 weeks old.

I also have a guinea in there with them and a mallard duck. Actually caught them being still! There run is 5 foot long but they like to sleep at the back of it.
