Would this be a good place to locate the coop

Alrighty how about this idea, I have made a solid floor for the coop what do you all think about me making a solid floor for the run and using sand on that? I know I may have to clean it more often but it would eliminate me worrying about predators and having to scrape off the rocks which seem to at least 6" deep if not more. Here is the complete coop showing the open run portion. I know it is small but I am only looking to house 3-4 hens.

ok, I'm only speaking from the perspective of construction - added to that which I have read around here the past few months.

From what I have learned here, sand in the bottom is good. The birds like it. But you have large mest (relative to sand) on the bottom and sand would ever so quickly be gone because of the very handy way the chickens will move it around.

Do I understand that you have placed plywood or something at the bottom? That's going to rot and not leach water very well.

How about lining the border with 2x6 or greater so there are rigid walls to retain the sand on the sides. Then line the bottom with window screen fabric, or similar, which will contain the sand by leach rain and other moisture.
