would this be good for hatching duck/quail eggs ?

Aw this reminds me of my first attempt last October (before I discovered BYC) with a homemade incubator. I used a fishtank and it worked great although I pretty much had no clue what I was doing. It worked great until I fried the egg while candling it!

yeah i can read the thermometer without opening the lid
DWD know if i hatch ducks in there when can i let them have a swim (like put them in the sink or the bath for a little swim) ?

Duck Keeper is right, but they are easily chilled and not as hardy when they are very young. Waiting a few more days or a week could reduce the risk of them getting sick as a result of swimming. Of course you would still need to be very careful to dry them off after they swim for at least a few weeks.

I let mine swim in warm water, and only for maybe a minute at a time on various occasions throughout the day before towel drying, and physically holding them next to the light until they're mostly dry to the touch.

I think I babied my first batch, they were scared of the water!
The next time around I let them swim much more often.

They have their own pool in their pen now, with no problems getting in or out (like some ducks I've bought as adults without pool access). Just make sure you have a cinder block (I use one of the solid halfblock kinds) or bricks to use as a step to get out.
