Would worms cause a rooster's abdomen to be swollen

Some kind of intestinal irritation which could include parasites?

no, not a meat bird. Black Copper Marans. 2 years old. rooster. Hadn't wormed or dusted either...so no doubt we have those issues. I hate learning the hard way. I shoulda had a book a long time ago.

Well, I'm out of ideas then- I was trying to rule out one of those rare diseases I read about- doesn't sound like that's what it is. *whew*

Yes, if it were me, I would treat with one of those pour ons that kill all external and internal parasites, maybe. And since he's a boy you don't have to worry about tossing the eggs for awhile.

But I really have no idea what's wrong with your guy. I hope he gets better!

I hope someone else will know the answer!

Is your rooster showing any other symptoms besides abdominal swelling? Is the swelling hard (tumor?) or soft and fluid-like? A swollen abdomen can be a sign of lymphoid leukosis, or could be fluid in the abdominal cavity (ascites) caused by a heart or other problem. Let us know if he has any other symptoms and maybe someone with more chicken experience than I will come along.
