Would You Do This?

I would absolutely try to run off any predator except for a bear! My dogs would too!
My chickens are in a fenced off area for this very reason. :hmm Fox and coyotes that come during the day would have to jump a 6 foot fence first. Dog is always out patrolling and we have had no more losses since putting in the fence.

The closest I have come to that is nothing, but underwear and flash light with weak batteries. I also had a wiffle bat. Target of my ire was raccoon.

Watching the video a few times I did see something that may help defend dog. The woman making the whooping sound did appear to scare dog likely confusing it. My whooping sounds more like a really big chimp and it scares my dogs too.

Another thing that woman has in common with me, the run after the bad guy is not a proper form because of waving the arms all about with slightly outwardly bent knees.

You get points for doing that in the dark to save the eyesight of some unsuspecting witness.
The dog still gets no points. My dog would have shoved me out of the way and gone after the fox and killed it if he caught it.

As a pup he / she would not. Having the right crazy human screaming might scare even him as an adult. In doing the arm chair football coaching approach, I would step past dog before booming the voice at the fox so as not to confuse dog. Dog in video did seem interested in fox until lady screamed. Watch video closely and you will notice. You do not need to stare at the lady.

My husband once heard chickens in distress, grabed the shotgun clothed only in his boxers and ran out the door only to meet the jehovahs witnesses lady about to ring the doorbell. Thank God she must have been a farm girl herself and they got a good laugh about it.:D
Religious affiliations will not shield the eyes. The laughter could have repressented a form of shock. Type of underpants and their condition must be considered.
