I just crushed up a hard boiled egg for my chicks and not one of them wants it!!!!!! I am sooooo aggravated by these chicks right now. I wish they would just eat their healthy treats already!! How can I get them to eat it?? I put food in the hard boiled eggs to lure them in. I sprinkled it on the ground. I even held it out on my hand and not once did they even attempt to eat it. ahhhhhhhhhh

Well it is Easter... Maybe they were expecting a chocolate egg

Lol!

Have you tried scrambled instead? or is hard boiled what's available? Maybe chop it up with some other treats?

Give them some time. Oftentimes when introducing a new food/treats it takes awhile for one of them to get brave enough to try it. I have seen my adult chickens avoid a new food for up to a couple of hours before someone tries it. As soon as one is eating it the others jump in.

I have a "treat" pan that I always use for my adult chickens. It is about 13" x 9" and is white. They all come running when they see me walk out of the house with it. They will eat nearly anything out of the pan. It oftentimes contains dinner scraps/leftovers.

I totally agree on the treat pan! Mine are still a bit too little for a pan but I do use a red jar lid that gets them worked up into a tizzy whenever they see me come around with it. I have also used one of my slightly older birds to encourage the interest. They are only about 2 weeks older but if I place one of them into the baby brooder and then bring the treat lid around, the older one is all over it and the little ones copy.

The 1st time I fed my chicks egg they all ignored it and it sat for a day and a half before I tossed it out. Now the 1st time I dropped a cricket in the brood with my chicks they went crazy chasing each other around just to get a leg. Im sure you will find the treat they cant resist.

I got a small metal "coop" cup about 6 inches across. I tried, like you, to get them to eat right from my hand....then stared at them for a while to see if they'd eat treats I left. Finally I started putting the treats in the coop cup. When it's treat time I put the treat in the metal bowl and put it in the brooder. The first time I did this it took them forever to find it. After a few days though they learned that this bowl comes in when treats are available and leaves when they're gone.

The metal bowl itself is enough to cause a frenzy now!

Good luck and continue repetition!

How old are the chicks? Mine that are under a week old won't touch anything but their food and some crumbled up egg yolk. Now the older chicks... That's another story. :-D
