Would you recommend raising Guinea fowl in an urban area?

I live in NY and houses here are not very far apart. I am thinking about getting a very small flock of about 2-4 Guineas in the near future. I would like to know if this would be too much? would the Gray Pearl Guineas be very loud and possibly pester the neighbors?

not a good idea, they are loud and the movement will stress the birds out big time.

Normally are Guinea noisy birds or only noisy when alarmed?

If you like your neighbors, I wouldn't.
Those birds are crazy!
They make noise ALL the time, and it is worse when alarmed.

Guinea's are loud and will pester your neighbors! If you lived in the country they make great alarms. In an urban environment they will suffer from stess from all the movements, lights and sounds.

Don't do it! If it is even legal, it will certainly make your neighbors miserable. I'm in the country and my nearest neighbor can hear them loudly when they get going. They also like to yell at the mail man, and basically anything else they think might be worth yelling at. They're very flighty too - not good for in town as they'll most certainly end up on your neighbors' roof. I actually reduced my flock because they were very loud, both males and females, in all colors (and I've had a lot of colors) You would regret having them in town.

That said, if you move to the country and have the space, it's neat to watch them wander around and eat bugs and weeds.

We don't talk to the neighbors too much because they're usually very busy. Anyway can someone please give me an idea what domesticated farm related bird I can keep in an urban area?

If backyard chickens are legal where you live, I would recommend a couple chickens. No roosters, but a couple hens would provide eggs and entertainment. Most other farm birds are too flightly for in town.

Some quieter duck species would also work in town if you don't want chickens.
