Wounded chicken wandered into our yard, what would you do for it? (wound pictured) Breed? Ro

This girl was meant to live and be a part of your flock.
She will overcome her obstacles one day at a time.
Thanks for the updates and I love the name you gave her.
One of my Buffies is named Goldie too!

We let the hen forage a bit and our chickens actually tolerated "Goldie" well. I feel badly for her though and still wonder if she should be put down, while bathing her I saw that her wounds were much worse than I though, all around her neck, down her side/vent area, and down a leg. She limps pretty badly getting anywhere. I also need to treat her for lice/mites since she's around our chickens, and can't quite handle her yet without causing a lot of stress/touching wounds.
Make sure she is quarantined long enough at least 2 weeks before mingling with your flock. She could get the rest sick and you'd loose your whole flock. Definitely clean the area daily. I would suggest giving her chick starter crumble to help heal the wound, more protein in it than layer, just for a bit. She is lovely and luck to be rescued

Thank you. Kids names her Goldilocks and some said it's too long, so Goldie.

Sorry I'm ignorant, sick with what besides potential lice/mites (which I haven't seen while checking her and did get her dusted today)? Maybe there are things I don't know about that she could spread to them?

Coccidosis, respiratory infections, merks, smallpocks, mainly viruses. They aren't always noticeable in the start so at least 2 weeks monitor for eye nose drainage irregular behavior weakness stumbling etc

And those posts say 4 weeks like the post's mention if a bird is a carrier they are a carrier for life and will always have that illness and that disease. Some people have had to put down their entire flock burn everything and start from scratch with a new flock. Better safe than sorry
