My ducks were attacked very early this morning. Two died and one is injured.

She has a large wound right under her left wing toward her chest. I wrapped it and put her in the garage. She's not bleeding anymore, but does seem to have lost a lot of blood. The wound is very deep.

What do I do? Should I just keep wrapping it and checking on her or is it time to put her down?

When we were wrapping her she was shaking quite a bit. Did she go into shock?

I really love her, but I don't want her to suffer. If there's a good chance she'll pull through then I'll do everything I can to help her heal, but if it's a fatal wound then I'll have my boyfriend put her down.

If a picture is needed for clarity, I'll try to get one when I get home today.

Give her a chance. I had a mink attack this fall and found on of my ducks barely alive. His neck was all tore up, but with a little help he made it. I also took a friend's chicken that was attacked my a weiner dog. He pulled her under a fence and killed a huge amount of her skin. She had puncture wounds all over her body. She is doing great now. It's amazing how well birds heal. Keep it clean, I would rinse with saline solution as needed and use Neosporin (without pain relievers) to keep the skin moist while it heals. I honestly think she will make it. She is probably shaking from being through such a terrifying experience.

I agree with BlackBrookPoultry. If it is cold where you are at I might bring her in to keep her warmer while she heals. Hope she recovers.
