My very first hatch was just for a learning experience. I gathered eggs from the local Farmer's Market, and a gal at work. The hatch was like 27 of 30, if I recall correctly. I gave all the chicks to an older lady that retired from my workplace (but still works on occassion). She had recently lost the last of her chickens, to predators. She absolutely loves those mutts, and talks about them all the time. She recently told me that she believes she only got 3 or 4 roosters out of the whole lot!

Maybe you could give them to someone???

Anyway, congrats on a great hatch!

I have so many chickens at the moment. as of now,I am pretty much taking care of all of my chickens by myself.. except for the occasional help of my 2 young sons

I did not think so many would hatch.

Cute! Thank you for the pic's. Give it a day or two, you will figure out what is best for you, your family and the chicks. Things have a way of coming together. Congrats on the hatch job.

I'm in Colfax.

Depending on my hatch results, I might be able to take 1 or 2. But my hatch doesn't happen until 10/23. I've been looking for a cochin for a broody. Are they standard size?

If you wanted to wait a bit and see what they look like in a month or so that would be fine. I can post pics as the weeks go by? I can also PM you if you like? Thanks!!

Sure, that would be great.

Also PM me the hens you have and the roosters you have, so I can get an idea of the possible combinations.

I have welsummers and barred rocks from bargain and BBS orps from gumpsgirl in my incubator.
