Man, what a fantastic outcome!!! Shipped eggs, serial bator trouble, mostly pullet eggs sent... you did fantastic!!! Thank you so much for this thread and for posting all the pics. Shipped eggs can be such a gamble and I am SO glad you pretty much hit the jackpot! Any hope for at least one more Ameraucana? Don't give up yet. I have chicks hatching this weekend that have been at it since yesterday and only about half are out so far. Twelve more to go, and several are pipped, should be an okay hatch but it is ALWAYS such a nail biter. I don't have any of my silkied Ameraucanas out yet. Last night I thought one had pipped but this morning I got a better look and it was an Ameraucana... But since then, one of the Silkied Ameraucanas has actually really and truly for reals pipped, but just a tiny pip. No breathing hole yet.
This thread made me kinda nervous... a lot, okay... I'll admit it. I was just dreading "What if's...?" worse than if they were my own. I am SO SO SO glad you got some of at least every kind you got to hatch. I still want another Ameraucana to hatch for you....

OnTheSpot, you have been so great. I'm really enjoying the eggs, hatch and babies. Its been really fun except for the worrying and no sleep parts. I think one thing that helped with my hatch is the viability of mutt, I mean, designer eggs. They seem to do better than pure breed eggs. To get all 3 Olive eggers and 9/12 of the Red Brick-someday-to-be-olive-eggers seems like it would be due to that. I did help 3 of the Red Bricks that were stuck after long pips. They are still in the hatcher and I was not sure if 2 of them would make it but they look great (this is what kept me up late). And I helped the 2nd Ameraucana. She was stuck as well.
Humidity has been 64-67% so I'm not sure why but when they pip and wait so long it makes trouble. So I got 4 more than I would have.
I'm still hoping for more Penedesencas. They are tough to hatch.
Its hard to say which chicks I'm more delighted with.
I'm excited to have Bev Davis Marans. Wish more of those came to the party.
I'm thrilled with the LOPs.
I love the mottled javas...
I can see I'm just going to go down the list and say how much I love all of them....
So, I have not given up. Incubators are still running and I'm squirting in more water as needed to keep the humidity around 65%. I'll give them another day.
Maybe the last LOP or another Bev Marans will hatch, maybe the other Ameraucana, maybe another mottled java and maybe more of my pendesencas.
I think the Presley BCMs and the Red Bricks are done.
How exciting to get such a variety of eggs and chicks. BTW, you take great pics. Just makes me want to hatch some eggs to have little cuties to dote on. Congrats on your new babies!
Can I ask what you saw or what was happening that made you decide to help the ones you mentioned?
Great job!
I will be hatching onthespot eggs in my next set and can use all the advice you have learned. Maybe you can follow my post next month and lend what you have learned?
