It is super cute! I plasticked my run to keep out the wind and snow and gave em deep straw in it for the coming single digit temps we are supposed to get. I would only suggest you use a 2x4 set with the wide side under their feet for a roost so they can comfortably cover up their feet at night.

I'm from Orange County NY & want to own silkies too but haven't had any luck finding yet! Anyone in Orange County NY or NEAR selling Silkie chicks????

Is there power in the coop? If you're losing sleep over it, you can buy low wattage infrared heat lamps (60w) from pet stores that sell reptile supplies. I employ heat lamps when the temperature plummets. With infrared heat, they don't heat the air, just objects, so the chickens can stand under it and warm up, but you'll never get a super heated coop.
