did you read her tips as well.. Dont be scared or you will make the chick scared.. HELLO your holding it by its neck , its gonna be wigging out..

Don't you love the internet and all the "answers" you can get?

I am a firm believer in RESEARCH with KNOWLEDGEABLE people. Some big mistakes can happen reading some of the tripe that gets posted.

an old farmer told me this and I tried it at TSC and it is true that the female will fight to get free but the male give up and goes limp Now I don't know for sure if they were male or female for sure but I guess it works on th eDominate submissive way of doing things with animals the Dominate male is bigger and stronger so the submissive male goes limp while the Dominate male takes the female yet the female will want to survive so she will fight. try it on your baby chicks and then watch and see who is male and who is female the old timers had to have a way of knowing which was which so they could fatten up the roos in freezer camp.

Yep I don't mind the wait. It will be like another birthday. CONGRATS! IT'S A BOY! lol. That is completely redonkulas though.

Huh???......... Funny that someone would go to the trouble to put something up like that yet they've never even tried it themselves.

lol! My neighbor (older) lady stopped by to see my chicks yesterday. That was the first thing she did was pick one like that and announced it was a hen!

Luckily she only did one that way and let the rest alone. Wonder if theres something to it?

Works if you grab the feet and hang them upside down as well... Supposed to work the same if you lay them on their backs. We tried it once, along with the wing sexing and i would say it was about 80% accurate using both methods. Going to try a new tip this year

When I bought my chicks at tsc I asked for hens only and the young lady did just that, the chicks are almost three weeks old, I still can't tell if it really works but I'm sure I'll be able to tell in the next couple months. Although, I purchased two white rock chicks and the tail feathers are different, one has feathers about an inch and a half long and the other is bigger and has mostly fuzzy tail, which makes me think the larger one is a roo...

If 6 of 7 are hens then the technique is pretty accurate. Time will tell.
