WOW...the green that is coming in!

I have never had a Swedish with a green head. I say it is a mix as well. Also feathersite does not always have everything correct. I emailed them about their houdan chicks that were obviously (to me)Polish and they took the pictures off.

That second pic is my Black Swedish, Tank. After seeing this post yesterday, I took a look at him this morning and he does have a green sheen to his head...just not quite as green as the OPs. I got him and my female from TSC in '08, I have no clue what hatchery they came from though.

Doh! I meant to post your name when I posted the picture!

It's possible he's a mix, but I've seen a few black swedish with that nice black sheen to their head. My newest black runner is almost as green as a bei. The few people that know ducks and have seen him, have asked me if he's mixed even though his form is runner perfect. He's not.

The green on the op's duck's head bleeds into the back of the neck, which is very different than a mallard and some of the other green headed breeds.

I think this is a crested black also.

I really don't know for sure, but I'm still going with swedish.

A Black Swedish having a green sheen to the head is completely normal. A lot don't have much green sheen, but a lot of others do.

Thankyou all.

It really amazed me how all of a sudden he had such bright green showing up. I had someone argue with me that he was a mallard because of the green head.

I wanted some reasurance that he is a swedish or at least mostly swedish so I don't sound dumb telling people that.

What do you think of Cocoa my brown female. I think it was mixed reviews when she was younger and I asked. Anyone have a breed guess on her?

My Blue Swede 'look-a-like' (who is really a Runner/Magpie mix) got bright green specks this Fall, kind of like someone threw confetti on him, but that's as far as it ever went. I tried to get pics when it happened, but they never turned out.

I had been trying for a long time to get pictures that actualy show the green he has. I don't know how many pics I took until I got some that showed the actual green color.
