Wow - was she had!!!

Well, someone is going to have a full freezer! That is just the risk of straight runs and auctions. I go into such things expecting to fill the freezer later.

I think you are right - she should have found out the system for sure. I was not implying anyone was trying to trick her - it is just a shame out of all those chicks she had to end up with so many roos. No way anyone can keep all those and she was hoping to rear them to sell on. she will not do it again!

I have alot of roos and I'm going to try and keep them all, it might be a pain but I'm still gonna try!

I am keeping one that I hatched - he is a lovely looking bird, a copper blue maran but if he gets aggressive he will have to go.

Want to hear the flipside of this story?
I had too many chicks. So I packed some in boxes of 2 & took them to auction.
First box up went for two dollars. Auctioneer asks Do you want to do 2? 3? etc.
There were different breeds and many were PULLETS. I ended up with one dollar a chick minus the fee & cost of packing.

I thought folks would bid based on what was in EACH box. They look them over before auction. I was sure I'd get more for the pullets.

Live & learn.

That is really tough! As you say, you live and learn the hard way.

I think I will always only hatch for my own use and maybe sell pullets to friends at 12 weeks - that way I know where they are going and it stays small scale and easy to handle!! Just not too many roos please!
