I'm glad the surgery went well for the chicks.

Thanks for the photos! Wow those eggs are beautiful! I still "need" a Maran in my flock one of these days when I get my flock number back were it should be... then I'll hopefully get a dark egg layer or two. I'm down to light/ medium brown, a few shades of green, and 2 hens that lay cream colored. I need the whole rainbow!

I don't have color either, Marans, Australorps, BR, and SLW. Only other color I get is 1 white duck egg and one green EE and she's sporadic at best. I do get an occasional Marans egg with a pink/purpleish bloom but blues and olives would be neat.
With as many Marans that I have I do like the color and sheen variations of the darker eggs especially the speckled ones. There not super dark but still pretty to me.

All the eggs are gorgeous! I'm a speckled egg fan, one of my girls (a sapphire gem) lays speckled, no two are ever alike!
