Checking all bands over the last few days and I've been keeping an eye on this guy. He's got a nice tail and I love that leg stance. Hopeful he's a keeper.

Totally out of my imited knowledge zone here but some SLWs from hatcheries come with a singe comb, not sure how only 1 singe comb gene would look though on the hen. I think you are right that the silver would at least turn that copper to more of a gold. This guy.... From the start I figured this one to be BCM x SLW but he's got what looks like a straight comb, no silver leakage but yellow feet?
Wouldn't the rose comb and silver leakage be dominant?
The possible hens are 3 Black Australorps, 3 Barred Rocks (not it, he'd be Barred), 1- Isa Brown, 1-Silver Laced Wyandotte and 1- EE
I was pretty positive I only set BA and BR eggs but oops, here we are with the 1 SLW boy and now this guy. I did not set any green EE eggs so he's not an OE.
So my only possible hen would be the SLW with his yellow legs?
BCM x Isa Brown wouldn't produce him, would it? Unless I got a bad Australorp but none have yellow legs unless it's hidden/ recessive?
I'm putting him up for sale but just curious what possible genetics are at play here with him so I can learn. He basically looks like a BCM with yellow legs. He's a friendly fella and let me take a bunch of pics. His copper is stunning coming from King.

I noticed another leg band in my run the other day, I now have too many lost leg bands to know who it is fromChecking all bands over the last few days and I've been keeping an eye on this guy. next year I'll do better...
@BlueTheBrahma could I get your thoughts on this guy? This guy.... From the start I figured this one to be BCM x SLW but he's got what looks like a straight comb, no silver leakage but yellow feet?

I’m suspicious of the yellow legs, if the cock is a BCM (its king isn’t it? That suggests that he carries the yellow legs gene (my BCM Loki does but is rare from pure marans). I’m also surprised there is no leg feathering. I’d guess without info it was a badly bred BCM, but obviously that’s not the case from your flock. I doubt it’s Wyandotte, Australorp wouldn’t give yellow legs, but even if it did I wouldn’t expect this much red. Which leaves ISA brown.@BlueTheBrahma could I get your thoughts on this guy?
What could his mix be?
Thank you, I didn't really consider the ISA as I was sure I didn't set any of her eggs, but I was sure I didn't set any SLW eggs also... Eggs are too close in color.I’m suspicious of the yellow legs, if the cock is a BCM (its king isn’t it? As they are bred from a RIR and white rock or Sussex, they carry the black (i+) allele as well as dominant white (I). And as birchen is dominant to wheaten and as a result Columbian, it is expressed over the Columbian of the ISA brown, while the red does not dilute the copper like a SLW would.
So if it was BCM cross ISA brown, ignoring leg genetics, the chance of getting a cockerel like this is 50/50, the alternative being white copper.
There is the option that it’s an Australorp carrying yellow legs, which would explain why there isn’t as much red as I’d expect from an ISA Red BCM cross, but I assume this is less likely as there is still quite a bit of red and ISAs actually carry yellow legs.
So ISA is my best call.
When he crows does he say whoops-a-doodle-doooo? If he does, that's how you'll know he's from an Isa eggThank you, I didn't really consider the ISA as I was sure I didn't set any of her eggs, but I was sure I didn't set any SLW eggs also... Eggs are too close in color.![]()
