Wrath's Marans

Ill add about splash cock birds: when breeding for a particular pattern that isn't splash itself, you are better off using blues, because the splash guy could be hiding a lot of pattern faults and you would never see them because splash hides everything. I usually keep splash hens if I want to keep splash, because males add a lot of the color to your flock.
Wow- that never occurred to me at all, but it makes sense. Well, I’m keeping the blue. He’s my buddy anyway- Emilio.
I do have a splash female- Andromeda (Andi).

The South Pacific islands and South American connection is a fascinating subject. I know that the chicken bones in one study were used as evidence of Polynesians coming to America, but I think that study was debunked.
what we do know is that the Rapa Nui fowl and the South American tribal chickens share a lot of traits, therefore it is assumed. I am not sure if anyone actually did the legwork to connect them, though.

My question of the "mystery south american hen" used by professor Punnett, could it be the Kiri Kiri of the Rapa Nui? There is a picture there, and Kiri Kiri have the same crest the Cream Legbars have now, and laid the blue eggs.
That would be my guess from the pictures you shared. I have often wondered where the crest came from because it’s different from silkie or Polish crests (and I can’t decide which crest English Araucanas resemble best).

All I know is that one of these birds were bred into the gold legbar, which don’t have crests or blue eggs, to create the CCL. If it’s documented I’m not aware.

Edit: apparently it was Araucanas, (and the cream colour came from white leghorns). I don’t know if I take this to be true Araucanas or maybe their ancestors, which were probably one of those native breeds bred to English birds.
