Writing goals

Thank you SO much Lacy!
You know, when I first starting writing Stephen had no backstory, he hardly even had a personality 😭 He was so boring  But once I came up with it, no joke, EVERYTHING suddenly made sense. Everything I'd already written, I can read through and suddenly see a motive that wasn't there before but I somehow still kinda put there. It really does make a difference. As I'm adding in characters, I don't intend to give them too deep backstories, the only other one who needs that is Theo, who may or may never show up šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø
You're welcome!

I've found that with some of my characters and I absolutely love it when that happens!
I started as a vocal storyteller when I was 8
I used to make my small cousins cry
my first story was about farmer that was lured by a monster, taking the form of one of his cows, into the forest at night.
He can’t see and falls down a big pit where he very graphically falls and dies upon impact.
The spirit of this farmer then haunts the surrounding area cursed to remain undead but only taking the physical form of his eyeballs. He searches for a new body but is always left unsatisfied.

And usually I’d be telling this around a fire outside on a farm.
Makes it more dramatic.
Eight? What on earth? So young, yet you're telling that story. 😭
Where on earth did you get THAT from? No wonder your siblings cried. It shows you have power over them.

I've always been a vocal storyteller. It's easier to tell a story as I think of it in my mind than write the story and be able to change it. Ask any adult who had to deal with pre-double-digits Nobby and they'll tell you I always had some real story to tell, usually with my own exaggerations to it.
Have you ever heard of those devices that you speak into and it writes down everything you say? You can train it to recognize your voice so it doesn't pick up anyone else's. Some people use them to write because it's easier for them.

I've never heard of a dedicated device for it. The thought of dictating to my computer never really came to my mind.

It's been a few years since I had heard of it, but then it was mentioned to me the other day. I prefer to write my stuff, but it's probably helpful to others.

Pantsing is the way šŸ¤œšŸ¤›
Agreed. Every time I try to outline and plot, it sucks the life out of what I'm writing. However, it's kind of helpful if I limit it to a chapter? I think? Maybe? ** squints really hard **

I do the inverse of this and have the computer dictate my chapters to check for grammar/typos. Much easier than searching for them manually. The worst part is trying to find a voice that doesn't sound like the self checkout at a grocery store.

Like Grammarly? I use Grammarly in all my writing. Currently, I don't have Pro, though. (Can't afford it at this time.)
